Note that these work best with a frames compatible browser. They both work
just fine with lynx if you pick the indexframe.
If your browser
really does not support frames or you want a slightly different way
to browse the archive use:
With these two versions when you click on a message to view it you will get a new browser window with
the message. The neat thing is that if you leave that message window up that subsequent
messages will be shown in it. This is very similar to the frames version except with each frame in
a separate window so you can position them on your desktop how you choose.
Some more work on the search feature will be done. In particular, it will be possible to
do quick searches based on message fields (author, subject) and we would like to get the full
text search updating automatically - nightly if possible and weekly if nightly is too resource
intensive.
Linking To Mirafiori Messages
If you wish to provide a link to a particular forum thread the suggested form is:
http://archive.mirafiori.com/show.php?fid=1&msg=841
The fid value is the forum number and the msg value is the message number. The msg value does not
need to be the top level message - the entire thread will be shown anyway. The page title is set to the subject of
the top level message of the thread.
You can also include a realtive position within the thread so that a particular message is shown.
To have the page positioned at a particular message append #fid_msgno to your URL. So:
http://archive.mirafiori.com/show.php?fid=1&msg=841#1_841
will be scrolled to that particular message and
http://archive.mirafiori.com/show.php?fid=1&msg=841
will not.
For the truely advanced you can also link to particular messages and provide a frames view:
http://archive.mirafiori.com/view.php?fid=1&msg=768&view=threads&dir=leftright
The view value is either 'threads' or 'messages'. The dir value is either 'leftright' or 'topbottom'.
The message list frame will be placed close to the given message but not with any guarantee that your
requested message is in view. The message display frame will show your message.
