So abarth ran the pushrod 1300 backwards in the 850 --I assume
with a three gear timing set--was there a special cam?
otherwise its-exhaust -compression -fire-intake---not so good.
What other engines have been run counterclockwise-- seems that
if one moved the tensioner to the opposite side --a sohc
1300/1500 would work---thoughts?---OK --- so I remortgaged for
an 850 coupe---just shoot me-go ahead--probably what I need.

.When I mounted a twin cam 1438 in the back of an 850 30+years
ago using the PBS setup I reversed it's rotation and used a VW
starter. Just a question. Are you sure the Abarth 1300 was a
reverse rotation.I honestly don't know .Just questioning.

1Yes the 1300 ran counter. I've seen the timing kits in the
past. Tell me about the 1438 conversion PLEASE!

She who must be obeyed (yes a new one) insisted I
stop "tinkering" with the fiat so as to fix the washing
machine. It would agitate but wouldn't spin. Runs clockwise
for agitate then switches for spin to counterclockwise and it
hit me---perhaps--since all the parts for abarthizing 850s are
either gonegonegone or in Bill Gates' closet--yes! I'll get a
HUGE washing machine motor--stuff it in the back of the 850
coupe and run it on the rinse cycle! I'm a geniuuss!

Err if you run a two gear timing timing set.. half of your
engine retains its normal direction, and thus doesnt need a
different cam, I think? Were talking overhead valve 125 engines
right?
This appears to be what was done to the 903cc 850 engine that was
in my 600 when I bought it.
