Hi all,
I have a 124 Sport Coupe tach in my X1/9 race car. It reads up
to 9000 rpm. Problem is, when the car is idling at 1000 rpm,
the tach doesn't register that. (I am using a Crane HI-6R box
and Crane PS-92 coil, the box has a tach trigger wire, but it
doesn't need a tach adapter)
2nd, the sweep action is quite slow? (are they all that way?),
and once I let off the loud pedal, the tach decends, then
bounces up 1000 rpm, then falls again. Ahhh. That sucks, I
cannot trigger this right off the neg of the coil, my box cannot
work this way.
Is there any way to at least adjust the tach, so it reads
correctly. This is a real pain, I am relying on the rev limiter
to tell me where the redline is!
Cheers

You can do it, but you'll have an easier time just getting a new
tach.
To do it, open the tach (by removing the front face and
unscrewing the back, revealing the guts). You'll see an
adjustable pot (there's only one).
