Hey folks, I knew about the FORUM ERROR message this morning, 
and had to spend the last few hours restoring from our BACKUP 
TAPE (woo hoo!), and the backup worked. 

It looks liek the message database became scrambled somehow, 
I'll be keeping a close eye on it.

Thanks everybody, for letting me know, and let's all bow our 
heads for a moment in silent respect.... of 4mm DAT magnetic 
tape and the regular use of same to back up important data.
