...that tomorrow is the beginning of winter?

But the good news is that it is the winter solstice, meaning that we will start
having a few seconds more
of sunlight each day.

Are you ready for some sunshine?

Hmmm...thanks Phil. We don't actually get much snow in the winter - it all
comes in the fall and spring. So we had to hurry to get this big one out of
the way before the first day of winter!

What's the big deal with hours of sunlight? Looked out the window at 1:30am
this morning and it was still like broad daylight. Thirty inches of snow does
wonders for night lighting.

Took me two and half hours to get home from work yesterday (seven miles), but
it took a lot of folks 12 hours to go the 25 miles from Boulder to Denver. All
good fun!

Other snow totals: 41 inches just southwest of Boulder, 35 inches at Golden
just west of Denver, and 52 inches in the Big Thompson canyon about 20 miles
north of Boulder.

Woo hoo! I love the snow!

And it's still coming down at 1:00 PM on Thursday. We were supposed to fly to
Virginia at 7:00 this morning; our travel plans are completely hosed. The first
flight we're able to get out on is Christmas morning. My 84 year old father is
very ill, and this was an important year to be able to spend time with family.
Thanks y'all for letting me rant, I'mm feeling kinda bummed to be so stuck.

At least on this coast the weather is warmer (around 50 for Christmas) though it
is kind of rainy right now.

I hope you get to your father's asap and have a great ime with your family.

Pierre dropped my daughter off at SFO yetserday for the flight home thru DEN.
she spent the night at the airport waiting for a window of opportunity to fly
home. we encourage her often and know we will see her, eventually. good luck on
getting home Joel.
