OK, so this 128 Rally (the sticker kind) has been around the blcok a couple
times and the price is beginning to look interesting.

For sure the visible rust through on the fender and much more worryingly, around
the window frames, is fugly. I'm wondering what the iron-stained undercoating
portends. Anybody seen this car?. arg. b-

That seems like a lot of money for a 128. The rally version is just stickers
and a tach, and if you repaint it, goodbye stickers.
It's a great shell for a 128. The undercarriage looks terrific.
The fender I'd replace. Keeping that rust at bay would be difficult.
The glass would have to come out to fix the front/rear. Rear is easy. Front is
a bit more work. Only way to properly repair that is sandblast the perimeter,
then probably rebuild the frames with 2 part epoxy. You WILL have holes there.
Unless I'm totally out of touch with 128 values, I think that car is
overpriced by 30-50%. I'd much rather buy a totally solid one from the desert
or CA and pay the $1200 or whatever to have it shipped.

Dwight, I think you're a bit out of the loop. The days of the "free get it
out of my yard 128" are long gone and I haven't seen the $500 needs help ones
around in a quite a while. For an east coast 128 it's about fair. A west
coast 128 is going to cost you at least $1500 - $2000 by the time you get it
there. 128s are almost all gone.

That's typical 128 rust but it's not too advanced. It's a late model with the
rubber sealed instead of the glued in windsheild so it's a little easier to
fix the window rust (very typical for 128s).

128's rust on the box corners of the passenger compartment, at the welds where
the valences are attached, under the trunk seal, and everywhere else.

They rust from the inside out, so you're looking at the good side. There is
always much more rust on a 128 than you can see.

To fix the rust on this one you are going to have to remove the glass (good
luck on getting the replacement rubber gasket) and cut and weld around the
window. Also, the fronts of the floorpans are rusted out because the water
that leaks in where the windsheild rusted out runs down the firewall into the
jute mate and rots it out. The fender will need to be removed and the a-
pillar fixed for the fender rust.

Still, it's better than alot of east coast 128s I've seen that sold for near
that price.

I would take Dwights advice and pay to ship a California 128 to yourself
though, it's cheaper in the end.
