Why are they always in Oregon? Actually that's good because at
$250 it would be in my yard today!

PS: Courtney, you need this car ;)

I am really interested in this car, but have no place to store
it until October. Can anyone in the Portland area help me out
with storage for a couple of months?

I'll be back on-line tomorrow evening.

Thanks in advance!

Villa dei Corridori could store it that long IF I reassemble the
131 that's blocking the driveway AND your car is running so it
can be moved around as needed.

On another note, greyhound tickets are cheap if you buy them
in advance.......

Can whoever posted this for Mr Heenahan tell me more about
this? IE how is it for rust, would it drive back to arizona, does
it have tags, etc. Thanks

OK, here is a business proposition. I have a 128 sedan that I
carry kids in. I really want the three-leaf spring from this
wagon, bad enough to buy the whole darn car at $250. I'll pay
$200 for the spring which even Chris Obert says is unobtanium.
Courtney or Mark, same offer goes for you if this is too far for
the Arizona contigent who I suspect could find a Yugo locally.
I would pay for Hawthorne Auto Clinic in Portland to do the swap
quickly with both cars on lifts.

Don Robinson has a really cool three leaf spring on his 128 that
he had a local suspension shop make for him from something
else. I believe the price comes in well below $250 so you may
want to check with him. That car also handles extremely well I
might add.

Well, I cant find any yugos locally, the car market is weird
here (high population influx leads to car shortages or so my
car dealer friend says)and there havent been any in couple years.
Lots in junkyards but none on the road. In the last five years in
arizona I have seen only one 128 (and what a sweet little rally
but alas I bought the scorpion instead as I didnt know the owner
was looking to sell). But thats not whats interested, I know of a
certain junkyard out in the middle of no where that I beleive may
have as many as three 128 wagons. Ill see if I can look into it
for you.

Sorry about that I was really tired last night and not thinking
well, I shoudlnt have written that.
137 = X2/0 = Scorpion/Montecarlo
134 = X?/??= Beta

If anyone knows the X codes and which cars they go with (not that
this is the forum for it) id love to know. I know of course the
X1/9 is the 128 Spider and the X1/4 is the 127 and I recently
heard that the X1/79 is the Cinquecento (500). In theory every
fiat from the 70's on should have an X code?

: I thought the Monte Carlo was an X1/20.

Some references to it are as X2/0 some are as X1/20. I dont know
which is correct (I do know how to find out, its printed on the
back of a scorpion instrument cluster, but I havent looked yet)

: Never heard of this. I thought the X designation was more of a
: marketing term than anything else. Prior to official
: introduction, US magazines referred to the X1/9 as the 128
: Spider as concept drawings were leaked to the press. I have a
: couple of old magazines with pictures captioned "The Fiat 128
: Spider will replace the aging 850 Spider" or something.

The X1/9 was supposed to be the 128 Spider but they decided for
some reason at the last moment to relase it under their in-house
pre-release code (supposedly they thought the name would effect
other car sales or some other mysterious mumbo). From what ive
gathered (not that that necessarily means much) just about every
car from late 60's early 70's on had an X code and 1 code. Since
I found the X code for the cinquecento im guessing they used that
system at least into the late 80's. Probably there is someone who
could just outright tell me these things and I wouldnt have to
wonder, but then what would I do at 3 in the morning when
insomnia has its grip? :)

Hey guys:

My pop placed this ad for Joe. I originally bought this green
128 about 6 years ago. It is in very nive shape from the doors
back, and has a very nice interior. I was all set to stuff the
1,500cc engine in it, but decided to put it in the Yugo instead.
It was stored amongst our 20+ old Saabs, and sat next to my
spare '87 Yugo. We traded Joe for some serious tractor, fence
building, gravel smoothing work etc...

Please call Joe if you have an interest. He may take less than
$250 for it. Also...please refer to the ad posted by Jack
Ashcraft above about the single cam parts. We have a spare
1,500 engine with your choice of three different transmissions.
We would be willing to work with Joe and offer you a hot rod
1,500cc Wagon combo deal. Joe is located just a mile or so away
from my dad's.

If your interested, let me know.

I think I might be interested. From the original ad it sounded
like it had a normal 1300/4speed in it, did I misunderstand that?
What kind of money would you want for a 1500/? combo? The earlier
ad says that it needs a fender which is included, is there
anything else wrong with the front end? I have saved a copy of
Joe's phone number, I may well give him a call in the next few
days. Good bodies are a dime a dozen but good interiors are
non-existant beats here in arizona.

Sorry for the bad e-mail. My e-mail has changed since I

The 128 Joe is selling does have the 1300 and 4-speed in it.
We are selling a 1,500 engine, with a choice of a 5-sp X1/9
trans, 5-sp Strada trans, or a 4-sp 128 trans. If your
interested in doing a hot-rod wagon project, we would be willing
to work with Joe to include the engine, and trans of your choice.

Ahh but Mr Joe doesnt seem to think the 1300 in it works. What
kind of prices are you talking about for those engines/trannys?

3432 Wed 8th Sep 1999 10:21pm I looked at this car (Mike Mittelstead)
It is pretty much as stated. Windshield is cracked, creases on
both sides (not too bad), interior is remarkably good considering
that it must have been 130 degrees inside the car, seats and
door panels intact, minor dash crack, mildewy headliner and
carpet, no crunchy feeling in the floors, LF fender
is really shredded, showing about 114K miles, looks un-molested
overall and under the hood.

Hope this info is of use to someone. MM

Talked to Joe...it does not have three spring leaves in it
anymore. A P.O. sold the extra leaf to a Yugo hot-rodder once-
upon-a-time. Price is now down to $100 F.O.B.
